Ganesh Karki, arrested by police after being shot, is identified as the leader of a gang involved in robbing people after throwing chili powder in their eyes. SSP Ramesh Thapa of Kathmandu District Police stated that Karki, who escaped from prison on Bhadra 24 (September 9/10) during the 'Gen Z' movement, was involved in similar chain and mobile phone snatching incidents in Sukedhara, Kathmandu-16. He was apprehended in JADIBUTI. Police resorted to firing after he attempted to attack officers with a khukuri and chili powder. Karki, a former police officer, had a history of criminal charges, including robbery and murder. He escaped from Central Jail during the Gen Z protests and continued his criminal activities, with his involvement in nine robbery incidents in Kathmandu being revealed after his escape.

A dry landslide in Sirek, Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4 of Sankhuwasabha, has completely blocked the Khandbari-Kimathanka road since Friday. Approximately 15 meters of the road is buried, causing difficulties for local residents and travelers in the Bhotkhola area. The District Police Office reports that efforts are underway to clear the road with the coordination of local authorities and security forces, using necessary equipment. The Khandbari-Kimathanka road is a vital link connecting the northern region of the district to the headquarters.

In Sudurpaschim Province, Nepal, police arrested eight individuals on Thursday, May 31st (Jestha 17th) for possession of various narcotics. The arrests occurred in Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Darchula districts. In Kailali, Kamal Chaudhary was apprehended with 230 grams of marijuana, while Dinesh Shahi and Khakendra Saud were caught with heroin-like substances and controlled pharmaceuticals. In Kanchanpur, Arjun Dhanuk and Ashish Saud were arrested with heroin-like substances while riding a motorcycle, which was also seized. In Darchula, Santosh Barma Sunar was found with 11 grams of hashish-like substance. The arrested individuals are currently in custody, and further investigations are underway.

In Mustang, Nepal, 13 tourists, including 9 foreigners, have died due to altitude sickness as of May 29, 2083 (BS Date). These tourists were primarily religious pilgrims visiting the Muktinath temple. According to the District Police Office, the deaths occurred in the Baragung Muktikshetra and Gharapjhong rural municipalities. Many Indian tourists are affected. Efforts are being made by local authorities and organizations to raise awareness about altitude sickness, including the installation of informational signboards and the distribution of brochures. Hotels in Muktikshetra are also equipped with oxygen cylinders and medications to combat altitude sickness. The lack of proper acclimatization and the practice of travel agencies rushing tourists to high altitudes exacerbate the problem.

At least six people have died after a four-story building collapsed in the Welcome area of Delhi, India. The incident occurred near Idgah Road in Seelampur, with a family of ten residing in the building. Eight others, including a one-year-old child, were injured. Locals who were out for a morning walk were the first to initiate rescue efforts, even before the fire brigade arrived. Police, NDRF, Civil Defence, and local citizens are involved in the ongoing rescue operation. This incident follows a similar one three months ago in Mustafabad, Delhi, where a building collapse resulted in 11 fatalities.

In the past 24 hours, Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police took action against 1,994 drivers for violating traffic rules. This resulted in the collection of Rs 541,502 in revenue for the state treasury. Among those penalized, 127 were caught driving under the influence, 142 were involved in illegal ride-sharing, 149 violated traffic signals, and 103 were speeding. Additionally, 158 drivers were penalized for not following lane discipline, 130 for honking in prohibited areas, 128 for parking on sidewalks, 95 for driving on one-way streets, and 962 for other traffic violations.
